Star Wars is Kenner's first line of action figures and related toys. It started with the Early Bird Set in 1977 and ended in 1979. It was followed by The Empire Strikes Back action figure line from Kenner. Georg Lucas originally approached the Mega Corporation, whose DC superheroes and Star Trek had made it a powerful company, but the Mega Corporation declined. After looking around, Lucas made a deal with Kenner in 1976 for Kenner to make Star Wars-themed toys and merchandise. Despite criticism of the Early Bird Certificate Package the toys where a huge success, and Kenner made $100 million in the first year alone.[1]
